IGP instructed to maintain status quo on Ranils security

The United National Party (UNP) has told Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara to maintain the status quo on the security of former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.Former Deputy Minister of Law and Order Nalin Bandara, visited the Police Headquarters with former Minister Daya Gamage and former Deputy Minister Palitha Thewaraperuma and submitted a letter to the IGP. Nalin Bandara said that the IGP was not in office at the time, nor was any senior Police officer. He said the letter was handed over to a policeman and the IGP was informed over the telephone. Bandara said that the UNP is still in the Government as the Speaker has recognised Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.As a result, the IGP has been told to maintain the security of Wickremesinghe and other UNP MPs who were Ministers prior to October 26th, Nalin Bandara said. Man arrested over cannabis seizure in Gorey worth €80000
