UEFA Champions League: Arsenal Revives Hopes After Beating Bayern

In the 6th minute, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil’s curled shot was narrowly stopped by the Bavarian goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. After 4 minutes, Arsenal’s Petr Cech replied to Neuer’s with a fabulous stop against Thiago Alcantara’s shot.30 minutes in, the Gunners ramped up against Bayern Munich, but Munich’s goalkeeper staunchly protected his goal.The first 5 minutes of second half passed calmly, until a near goal from Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa, which just missed the net.Bayern dominated possession but Arsenal dug out the win that keeps their hopes alive when substitute Olivier Giroud hit home a header from close range in the 77th minute after Santi Cazorla’s free-kick.The win was secured in the dying seconds when Mesut Ozil scored off Hector Bellerin’s cross.Arsenal managed to break the power of the Bavarian giant who won all domestic and European points this season, and revived their hopes to pass the first stage of UEFA Champions League.On the other hand, English premier league’s champion Chelsea showed a shaky performance.The Blues failed to score a goal against Dynamo Kiev- even though they hit the woodwork twice- and returned to London with just one league point.Chelsea is currently third in their group with 4 points, behind Porto with 7 points, and Dynamo Kiev with 5 points. read more
