Heavy cargoes arrive in Cuxhaven

first_imgOn its daily short-sea route between Immingham, UK and Cuxhaven, DFDS called at the Danish port of Esbjerg to load wind energy industry components, destined for the SGRE factory.In Esbjerg, rotor houses for offshore wind turbines, manufactured by Valmont SM, were secured onto Mafi trailers for loading on DFDS’ Jutlandia Seaways, on behalf of freight forwarder Freja Transport & Logistics. Each unit weighed almost 32 tonnes and measured up to 7 m wide.After just six hours, the cargoes arrived at Cuxhaven’s Cuxport terminal, where they are currently stored ahead of delivery to the SGRE facility. at the Cuxport terminal until they can be transported to the Siemens Gamesa factory.“With the call at the port in Esbjerg, the required components were brought to their destination as quickly as possible, saving several truck tours,” explained Marcus Braue, branch manager of DFDS Germany in Cuxhaven.“After this first call at the port, we plan to call at Esbjerg once a month en route from Immingham to Cuxhaven. The next call is already planned for early November.”

Swain County Sheriffs Office Drug Arrests

first_imgAccording to the Swain County Sheriffs office 3 drug arrests were made in one week:On June 5th, 2019 Swain County Deputies responded to a 911 call with an open line in the area of 255 Sherrill Road in Bryson City. Prior to deputies arriving on the scene Swain County 911 communicators was able to hear what sounded like a drug transaction occurring on the open line. Communicators advised the responding deputies. Deputies then secured the scene and investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence. After searching the residence investigators charged Jeffery Vernon Watson, 54 years old with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watson was given a $10,000 secured bond.On June 3rd, 2019 investigators from the Swain County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Indian Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, BIA, and DEA conducted a search warrant at 1900 Old Bryson City Road in Whittier. As the result of that search investigators charged Terrell Michael Rogers, 31 years old with Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rogers was given a $30,000 secured bond.Also on June 3rd, 2019 Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on highway 19/74 near Alarka Road. During the traffic stop the driver 51 year old Brian Lee Williams of Candler threw approximately one pound of marijuana out of the vehicle. Williams was charged by the Swain County Sheriff’s Office with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana. The North Carolina Highway Patrol charged driving while impaired and several other traffic violations. Williams was given a $10,000 secured bond.”last_img read more
