LETTER: Jersey City street fair organizer didn’t want anyone promoting Hugin

first_img CarePoint Health reaches deal for Cigna Health Insurance to join their network RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Loser U! Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter See the Utter Morons This is the most absurd article I’ve read in quite some time. Having been an event organizer in the past, I can attest that politics have no place at these events. It is not a political rally, it is a place for people to “eat, drink and be merry” and support the local businesses. This is event in particular is paid for by the local businesses who pay an assessment to be wihtin the downtown corridor as well as dozens of sponsors that pay a lot of money to be part of something so great. Political rhetoric has no place there whether you are there in support of a native from Hudson county or there to support the very President himself. I saw you there and found your presence more annoying than this article. The Wikileaks emails between the Hillary campaign talking about how they like to keep her voters stupid and uneducated was deadly serious. I give you Exhibit A above. We literally have Antifa loving anti-Americans who have no concept whatsoever about the Constitution and the right to political speech in the public square. loser September 25, 2018 8:26 pm at 8:26 pm Someone is going to slap you one day, hide behind your stench you coward He’s right you know. So why should he shut up? To make you happy in your ignorance is not an argument. Can you even make one? Bayonne 2-alarm fire leaves six people displaced, one suffers minor injuries, fire chief says Tina Marie In a letter to the editor, Hoboken Republican Committee Secretary Joshua Einstein says that the organizer of a recent street fair in Downtown Jersey City asked anyone promoting GOP U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin to leave. Dear Editor,Left, Right, Center, Democrat, Independent, and Republican – all must be on guard in defense of our freedoms. The First Amendment is always under threat from places high, low, and surprisingly just ordinary. For example, at the 8th Annual All About Down Town Street fair this past weekend, I and fellow volunteers, who decided to take to the streets wearing t-shirts and holding fliers supporting Senate Candidate Bob Hugin, were repeatedly told we had to leave by an organizer of the street fair. The organizer told us several times that we did not have a right to be there, that we could not talk with people, that we could not hand out fliers, and that we could not stay even if we ceased talking to people as long as we continued wearing our shirts, which had Hugin’s name on it.Undeterred, and because the street fair was on public streets and an event open to the public, we ignored the organizer.Upon return, said organizer refused to listen when I explained that in a public place paid for by tax dollars that every single American has both the right of assembly and the right tofree speech. The organizer then told us to stay put as she was getting the police, which I informed herwas a wonderful idea.Though the organizer did not return (I stayed in the same spot for a half an hour, talking to people about Hugin, and waiting for her and the police), it is chilling that some people havethe illiberal misconception that they can shut down speech just because they personally disagree. The All About Down Town Street Fair was an amazing time where people enjoyed good food, imbibed good drink, perused interesting wares, and heard great music. All the organizers, including the one who attempted to stifle free speech, should be applauded for the event they created. It was also a place I and slightly over a dozen people from varying causes exercised our first amendment rights by handing out fliers and talking about substantive issues.Whether it was Mayor Fulop, shaking hands and talking politics; people campaigning for Jersey City School Board candidates; or myself and my fellow volunteers, who decided to spread the word about Hudson County native son, Bob Hugin, there is a societal positive and important moral in upholding the freedom of speech.Legal aspects aside, it’s time more people remembered that better than attempting to shut down someone you disagree with, is using your free speech rights to explain and discuss your differing opinions.Joshua EinsteinHoboken Republican Committee Secretary Hoboken man killed in motorcycle crash on N.J. Turnpike in Kearny, state police say Time for Einstein to grow up. All this loser does is complain, complain, and complain some more. He should actually try to do something with his life other than walk dogs and write stupid op-eds. Time to grow up kid. EB14: Saris Powertap Adds Disc Hub, Plus New Complete Alloy Wheels and a Look…

first_imgLast year, Wheelbuilder.com introduced a titanium XD Driver Body for the Powertap Mountain Bike hub, which was something they helped develop. The issue was decoupling the braking forces from the drive forces to get an accurate power reading and not mess up the strain gauges. What’s new is that the G3-based disc brake Powertap hubs are now available in either 24 or 28 spoke drillings, down from the original 32-hole MTB versions. They recommend 24 count for road and cross, and 28 count for mountain bike builds.UPDATED: More tech and weight info added for new disc brake hub below, plus specs for DT Swiss rim wheels. The disc brake rotor is proprietary, necessary to mount a disc where their electronics typically sit. They say heat from the rotor won’t affect the power reading since the strain gauges are totally isolated from the outside hub shell. It’s works with either QR or 12×142 thru axle end caps and comes with both in the box. It’ll work with their standard Freehub body, or their Campy or XD Driver freehub bodies. The hub weights in at just 350g, which is only 25g heavier than their standard G3 road hub. It’ll be under $1000, actual retail is TBD. Available late Q4.UPDATE #1: Rotor weight is 163g, only about 30-40 grams more than a standard 160mm rotor. It uses straight pull spokes and has a smaller profile than the original MTB disc brake hub. The lower spoke count options better accommodate modern carbon fiber rim options, which allows for a much lighter total wheelset weight. It’s ANT+ out of the box, but will work with their optional Bluetooth LE end cap.Their CycleOps Amp and ENVE Smart carbon wheel series built on the Powertap hub are joined by new alloy offerings. You can now get the PM laced to either the HED Belgium or DT Swiss R460 rims. The HED rims on the GS hub are $1,899.99 and weigh in at 1,668g. Take it down a notch to the G3 hub and that set will run you $1,499.99 and come in at 1,671g. Those prices and weights are for the complete wheelset, front included.UPDATE #2: The DT R640 rimmed wheelset will come in at 1,800g (770g front, 1,030g rear). It’s 23mm wide outside and 23mm deep and tubeless ready. Retail is just $999 for the set, which includes the Powertap G3 rear hub!Think Powertap is only interested in hubs? Take a look at some of the product concepts they’ve tested. They range from the expected crank based models……to the currently popular pedal based systems. Then things get weird. Like a spoke-based power meter?Or one inside your cassette?Or how ’bout inside your shoe?As for things that have made it past the prototype stage, the CycleOps Virtual Trainer gets a new smartphone specific app that joins their PC and tablet versions. The iOS or Android phone app is just about as full featured as the non-mobile, and connects to their Bluetooth equipped trainer or ANT+ if your device is so equipped.Powertap.comCycleops.comlast_img read more
