ACTON – The Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District school board will appoint a new member to fill a vacancy on the panel created when a board member left for Texas. The board will interview applicants in a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Meadowlark Elementary School, and members of the public are encouraged to participate. “I think the board would be looking for … someone who’s focused on children, who has an interest in education and who wants to see good things happen (for the district),” said Superintendent Stan Halperin. A vacancy on the five-member board was created in mid-August with the departure of Cindi Oberhansley. At that time, the appointed board member will need to run for election. The board could have held a special election in March for the position, but school officials determined that that would cost too much. The school district asked those interested in applying for the position to send a written letter of interest describing their background. Sending a resume is optional. The letters of interest must be sent by the end of the business day Sept. 15 to: Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District, 32248 Crown Valley Road, Acton, CA 93510.
