Altavas extends curfew, reimposes liquor ban

first_imgMayor Denny Refol Jr. announced this move through his Aug. 30 Executive Order (EO) No. 41. It aims to limit the movement of people and slowdown the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).    Refol’s latest directive also made mandatory the wearing of face shield on top of facemask in all public places and private establishments.Under his EO, Refol enforced temporary curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.All persons within the territorial jurisdiction of Altavas during the temporary curfew hours are prohibited from going in and out of their residences, place of abode and/or roam around to loiter, stay or meander in all public places individually or in group.Exempted are those people with essential movements related to work and/or medical emergencies, government officials and employees performing essential and emergency functions and other individuals whose reasons are justifiable as determined by the mayor.Also, the selling, dispensing and transporting alcoholic beverages containing specific percentage of alcohol by volume or weight which may be in form of whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, cordial liquor, cocktail, wine, champagne, vermouth, basi, tuba, saki, beer, ale, stout, and others shall be prohibited.Altavas is the only town in Aklan to extend curfew hours and reinstate liquor ban.
