by Courier NewsroomNow in its second year, the Woodland Hills Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Stand Against Violence Basketball Showcase was the place to be if you love high school basketball and camaraderie.Three days of girls and boys games began on Saturday, Jan. 19, with games happening on two courts. Teams came from as far as North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Baltimore. They faced off against teams that you know, like Central Catholic, Penn Hills, Imani Christian, Westinghouse, McKeesport, Allderdice, Propel Braddock Hills, Clairton, and of course, the host school, Woodland Hills. Can you call it an annual tradition yet? Possibly so, as athletics director Ronald Coursey has plans on making it even bigger next year.Photos by Courier photographer Andre Swinton Jr.
